President’s Letter

President’s Letter

Dear Minnesota Music Lovers,

This is a very special year for us because we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Minnesota Music Awards! First, I would like to acknowledge everyone who's been involved with the organization over the years. Thank you for all of your service, input and of course your membership. We are, after all, a membership driven organization. I think you'll find this year to be quite an extraordinary one.

I'm so glad you stopped by our website, and I hope that you continue to do so to check up on all the great events and opportunities the Minnesota Music Academy has for you.One thing that we're extremely excited about this year is the launch of our business association program, "Friends of the MMA." Now, your membership has even more to offer! As a member and supporter of Minnesota music, you are now entitled to discounts at participating businesses who have generously lent their support to the MMA. If you would like your business to be involved, please feel free to contact us to find out more information. Shortly, we will have a page up on the site that will be completely dedicated to letting you know all the great things you can do with your membership card

We're very excited about our updates and changes and we think you'll feel the same way. Please make sure to check back often. Anytime you want to talk with someone at the MMA, please feel free to email us. We'll have a detailed list of emails for each board member up soon, then you'll know exactly who to direct your question or comment. If you're unsure, you can always use:

Every person who serves on the MMA Board of Directors is a volunteer, so please be patient if you do not get an immediately reply. We will do our very best to get back to you in a timely manner.

Thank you again for supporting the Minnesota Music Academy.

All the best,

Kate Galloway, President

The MMA is proud to present the "Booking and Touring 101" educational seminar. Booking is extremely time-consuming and touring can be very costly if you aren't careful. Successful touring takes more than just booking the performance and showing up to play. Our panelist bring some amazing experience and insight on the topic. Theres the club perspective - what do they expect from you if they book you in their club? Theres the booking agent perspective - what do they expect from you if they book you in a club and what can you expect from a booking agent? And, finally, thoughts from a touring musician on what it takes to book a successful tour. There will be information for everyone from seasoned musicians to those of you just starting to wander outside the Twin Cities metro area.
